Shawl Ministry

What is Shawl Ministry?
The Shawl Ministry meets to share their gifts of handiwork as a blessing to others (both church and non-church members) in need of comfort. Recipients are expriencing challengesin their lives and could benefit from God's care and prayers in this tangible way. Examples of recipients are: the elderly, someone undergoing treatment, nursing moms, anyone ill - in a nursing home or hospice care, etc. These shawls are appropriate for men, women and children.

People in this ministry have begun to make caps, etc. for preemies, and shrouds for still birth babies. They are also knitting mittens, caps and scarves for our Mitten Tree project.

Each item that is knitted or crocheted will be infusted with prayers so that the recipient will know they are not alone - God is with them along with much love from St. Paul's.

How can I become a part of this ministry?
- Pray for the recipients
- Join the Shawl Ministry group for any amount of time the 2nd Monday of the month, between 1:00 and 2:30 pm in the Church Library.
- Make a donation of yarn or money for supplies

How do I make a request?
Men or women may request prayers and a shawl for themselves or on behalf of another. There is no charge for a shawl, but it is the responsibility of the "sponsor" to be actively involved in prayer which connects St. Paul's congregation in the caring process. The "sponsor" also take responsibility to deliver the gift.

To request a shawl, or if you are interested in serving contact the Church office by email stplsumc@wisconsinumc.org or call 715 344-3557.
