Rev.
Howard Hintzman-The Weekly
Message On
Friday, I was part of a gang who moved furniture out of an
attic and a basement and anywhere else we could find it, in
Julie’s grandparent’s house. I came across something
I’m not sure I have ever seen before
- antique dust. The furniture had not had
a close encounter with a dust rag in fifteen plus years, and thus
I concluded the dust was so old it was worth as much as the
furniture. Thus, I am going to be sure I dust myself
off every once in awhile as I don’t want to be like that antique
dust. I will gladly be “older than dirt” or in
this case “older than dust”, I’m just refuse to be
dirt/dust. I received a photo of a friend’s
aunt who at eighty-five has a half acre garden, feeds the
neighborhood with the produce she grows in it and thrives in
seeing the neighbors take the produce and watching some as
they weed and hoe while they are gathering food. She may be
older than dirt, but she hasn’t chosen to be dirt. Why
should I get older before I need to – there is plenty of time to
be dirt. I think I’ll take this
as a motto: “Say NO to dirt and YES to being older than
dirt”. Think about it, God has refused to become dirt –
but gladly remains older than dirt. Till
next week…H You can reach Pastor Howard
