Today, as Julie put on a prayer card last week in worship, is the 35 wedding anniversary of her and her first husband.  I hope they have a nice time; whoops, that would be me.  One time when we were first married, my mother wrote us a letter and in it she said my dad was celebrating his 50^th wedding anniversary, only he would have to do it alone as the number was a combination of both of his marriages.   So, Julie and her first husband will celebrate alone.   Her husband will be at Annual Conference in Appleton and she will be camping with her daughter Rachel in Door County .  At least her first husband remembers the date of the anniversary.  She knows it is in June.  So there you are women who think that men are the clods not remembering important dates.   All of this creates for us another reason to laugh at ourselves and life.   Maybe that should be part of the wedding vows – “I promise to laugh with you three times a day.”  I wouldn’t be surprised if that didn’t improve a lot of marriages.   Thank God for the laughter.
