Rev.
Howard Hintzman-The Weekly
Message I
have been reminded that I have a split personality.
I used the ground hog as an image for a recent sermon.
Someone decided I needed to take on its character and so made me
a “ground hog” hat. Of course, there we those who felt
it fit well and some couldn’t tell a difference between
whether I had it on or had it off. When I came to work the
next day, I was wearing my hairy coat (pure artificial fur) and
someone wondered if it was ground hog fur. So, I guess
there must be something about me that exudes “ground hog.”
That means I’m a rodent. At least I’m not a rat
rodent. In
the past I’ve been part of a “blessing of the
animals” worship service. Woody the duck came every
year. There were the usual dogs and cats.
Then, there was the year a rat showed up. This
was one of the times I had to say to God, “this one is
yours.” I’m not sure I can bless such a rodent on your
behalf. You take over. Now that I think of it, I do
have a split personality because sometimes I do resemble some
kind of rodent in its less than glamorous forms. And
sometimes I don’t feel like I can bless myself. In
looking at rodents I most often do not see them in a positive
way, but God does. So, I guess on those days I can see
only the rodent part of my personality, I have to remember that
God blesses that as well. Till
next week…h You can reach Pastor Howard
